Buster will stay happy and healthy because he’s not starting tonight! Bum is out of a successful surgery where 3 pins were placed in his left pinky. He’s on the DL for 6-8 weeks. Here’s a trippy factoid: Whit Merrifield who hit the line drive that broke Bum’s finger played with Bum as a kid in NC. Bumgarner hit him with pitch when they were 11 years old. Small world. If only our Spring Training were one day shorter. Sigh.

Who’s going to Raley Field tonight to watch the 6PM exhibition game? I’m not sure who’s pitching tonight, but I’ll let you know as soon as it’s announced! Beede possibly? It may be on MLBTV, but doesn’t appear to be anywhere else. If you have the MLB AtBat app, you can listen to our guys call the game. It could also be on radio 680 AM I believe, but I don’t know the radio schedule. Our Gmen are tough, they will handle this challenge! #letsgogiants

Bad news: in the last exhibition game of the season in Arizona, Bum broke his throwing hand when it was struck by a line drive in the 3rd inning. He’ll have surgery tomorrow to insert a pin, and is expected to be out for about 8 weeks. Samardzija will also be out for 3-5 weeks with a strained muscle. Let’s hope some rookies take this time to show what they’re made of! I’m guessing Johnny Beisbol will start on OD. Heal fast and well, Boys!
