Collection of random tidbits taken from credible sources around the country today:
-The Dodgers finished second in the hunt for Jeff Samardzija. A lot of teams are convinced 2015 is not representative of his talent. They expect big things...
-Dodgers are making a push for Hisashi Iwakuma, but the Giants and Mariners are also believed to be in pursuit. At 34 he won't need as long of a deal as say a Mike Leake, but isn't nearly as old as a Bartolo Colon for example.
-The Giants are still in contact with Mike Leake, although the Cardinals and Royals might be willing to put up more money after today. Many are guessing Cueto to the Dodgers, Leake to the Cardinals. It seems as though Leake has increased in value in the past 48 hours.
-Ben Zobrist is still very high on the Giants' wish list. His versatility being the main reason. However, teams like the Mets have already stated they would be willing to sign him to a longer deal than the Giants might be comfortable with.
-The Giants still are looking for a big bat for left field. A few big name experts are throwing around names like Cespedes and Upton.
