Changes are starting to happen, first with the coaching staff. Here’s what we know so far: Hensley Meulens will move from hitting coach to bench coach, bumping Ron Wotus from bench coach to third base coach. Matt Herges was named the new bullpen coach. Phil Nevin, the previous third base coach, was let go. Alonzo Powell of the World Champion Astros was hired as hitting coach, and Curt Young, formerly of the A’s, was hired as pitching coach.
Last week, the team reassigned Dave Righetti, Mark Gardner and Steve Decker. Raggs is now going to serve as a special assistant to general manager Bobby Evans. Gardner will be in a special assignment role to assist in pitching evaluations and Decker was given the role of special assistant, baseball operations.
Good to see the coaching staff taking shape so the team can now concentrate on players, specifically pitching and power!
